girlie dress

I hope you're all enjoying your weekend! I have two sleeping babies and they've been out for a couple hours! Wow - that's huge in my world. :) Hubby and I went out last night to see a play.. it was hard leaving them and of course I thought of them all night! They didn't fall asleep until late so I'm sure that's why they're worn out today. I'm thinking I'll wake them up soon (although I hate to) but I want them to sleep tonight. Anyway... on to this CUTE project!

Our friend Amber e-mailed me with this adorable dress she created. Isn't it adorable?? I just love the bling!! Some of the dresses people have created are just too cute.. they're dresses I'd want to wear! I love seeing what you're all creating so please, keep sending me photos and links! Also, we're in the process of a re-design in the shop and eventually blog so please bear with us as we transition. Some COOl things are in the works!!

We were happily surprised and excited when we heard we were featured in the June/July issue of Paper Trends magazine. A friend called me to say she saw us listed and I didn't even know!! rockin' + baby's christening day

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. I had to share this first picture because it's a definite favorite around here. I made Steven a card with this picture that said, U Rock Dad! Is that picture not the cutest??! :)



We had the babies baptized on Father's Day. It was such a nice day. Steven's uncle came down from Canada to perform the baptism. They were so angelic in their little gowns. Such a special day.

Happy Father's Day!

Sunday is Father's Day.. hubby's first. I won't share his Dad's Day gift because he reads the blog. HA! We're also having the babies baptized (and my MIL is making their christening gowns.) So sweet! I can't wait to share pictures. I took some adorable new photos of them this week. Little Steven's starting to smile and I got some great shots.

Thought I'd share this gorgeous piece done by Julie Ann Shahin of our design team. She's such a talent. I love how she always papers the sides of her projects (something I rarely do myself) and I always look at hers and think how finished it really looks. I'm going to share the background story of this piece too because I just love it. Enjoy!

This is for my Father-in-Law. He was a Marching Band teacher/director at a local Catholic high school. They won tons of awards and contests. They kinda toured all over Europe, playing for Grace Kelly and the Pope as well. DH got to go on all the trips too as FIL took the whole family everywhere.There is a photo of FIL holding up a huge trophy, I haven't stopped by there to pick it up but I could probably add it in somehow if he wants that photo included. I used all Christina Renee stuff on it - her paper for Prima and then her digi goodies at her own store.

Just gorgeous!! Thanks JA for the inspiration! Happy Father's Day to all the special men in your lives. Thanks for always visiting!

Guest Designer, the fabulous Jackie Bonette

Meet Jackie Bonette our Guest Designer this month. She looved our coffee cup shape and created a fun and whimsical wall hanging.

I've been a long time admirer of Jackie's work since seeing her work in Autumn Leaves' Designing With series of books as well as visiting her gallery over at Two Peas. Read on to learn a bit more about her and enjoy her tutorial and creation...

Hi there!
I am Jackie Bonette, born and raised in small town southern Alberta, and still actually on a farm near that small town now....wife and mom to 3 wild-and-crazy kiddos and a new golden retriever puppy thrown in there too just incase life might get boring. :)
I don't know if it's our busy schedules but I seem to have a difficult time actually scrapbooking these days but love to do fun little decor crafts & projects so I was so excited that Deb asked me to do up something for her! I hope you like the coffee cup wall art...it's really easy even though my tutorial and all the pics make it look like it's a big deal...it's not. Dive in and I hope you enjoy. :)

{Coffee Cup Wall Art

{To create this quick & easy piece, I used the following supplies but please feel free to substitute whatever you might already have lying around:

- Coffee Cup wooden cutout shape from DamboiseDesigns
- 12x12” corrugated cardboard
- several different patterned papers
- acrylic paint and sanding tools
- flower rub-on
- small heart stamp and red ink
- several types of black sticker letters and rub-on letters
- red script-y sticker letters
- paper wire or similar (for the ‘steamy swirls’)
- black patterned book binding tape
- scalloped paper edges
- adhesives, hot glue gun, stapler, ModPodge

1. Start by selecting paper strips of varying widths to cover your background cardboard with and another couple of prints to cover the coffee cup. Adhere papers to cardboard and
trace right side of coffee cup to back side of the patterned paper that you are using to cover it with; cut coffee cup shape.
2. Paint only the edge of the cup with a complimentary colour of acrylic paint; allow to dry.
3. Adhere paper to cup using ModPodge; allow to dry thoroughly and then trim/sand off any excess paper edges.
4. Finish off the art background (the cardboard) by adding scalloped edges to 2 sides and book binding tape to the others. Add sticker & rub-on letters to create the coffee, coffee, coffee strip; inter-space with tiny red heart stamps. Add a bit more texture with staples here and there. (I still can’t do anything without adding staples somewhere!!)
5. Further embellish the cup with other bits of pattern at the bottom, a rub-on flower and ‘coffee love’ sticker letters. Adhere to the background using hot glue applied directly to the cup and then placed.
6. Lastly, add small steam swirls by twisting small bits of paper covered wire around a finger or pencil; add a wet adhesive to the non-twirled end and stick it in behind the cup. Staple the swirled ends to secure.
