PLAY corkboard fun!

Can I say how much I *love* this project?! Danielle is so inspiring. Below are instructions on how she made this!

Ok...what I did with these was paint the letters white, sprinkle on some glitter, added a few embellishments. And then I put them onto a cork bulletin board that I painted. It's supposed to be a fun little board to hang in a child's room to keep track of their game times, or pictures of friends, notes, etc. The letters were attached to the cork really easily with glue dots!

The only thing I'm not quite happy with is the color the corkboard turned out. I painted it pink but after it soaked in, it mixed with the color of the brown cork and turned a salmony color. If I had to do it again, I'd paint the cork white first and then add the color I wanted it. Or 'prime' it so to speak.

Love it so much! And it's such a great addition to a child's room, family room or kitchen. I know I'm constantly writing little notes and what a great idea to have them all in one place. The PLAY letters can be found HERE.

PLAYful DT project, flickr + Scrapscene!

Happy Weekend everyone! It's actually a nice day out there today.. a nice change from the snow we got almost every day last week! Yuk! The sun is shining and streaming in the windows and makes me think Spring really might be around the corner.

I'm loving this PLAY letter set that the talented Robyn created for her son's room. Love the papers she chose and of course the personal photos. This is one of my favorite lettering styles we have. I like that it's got a bit of playfulness to it, but also nice and chunky to add lots of embellishments. I'm using it for the nursery. :)

So I've been having fun with our flickr group. I've added lots of photos but am still working on adding more so be sure to check in often. I love this Carpe Diem set in the kitchen - perfect way to start your day! Thank you Andrea for sending it in!

We wanted to say a special thank you to Angie over at Scrap Scene for posting about us yesterday! We love Scrap Scene! I love all the links they post about.. and a lot of them are ones I'm not familiar with so that's always fun.

Have a great weekend my friends!

on to more boy projects!

Here's Chrys' take on the airplane and car shapes. She said her son had a GREAT time picking out the stars for his shapes. We love that! I love getting kids involved with some of these shapes. They really are perfect projects for little kids and big kids too. ;)

Happy Love Day!

Won't Shoe Be My Valentine? I just love this design! It was created by our customer and friend, Sara Garza. She sent it to me a while back and I knew I wanted to post it today! I think it's so clever and chic! I love the flower detail and black heel!

I hope you all have a very happy LOVE day! I'm making my Valentine's cards tomorrow.. shhh.. don't tell my husband. :) Luckily we had one Valentine cardmaking kit that I had put together and it didn't sell, so it's perfect! Now everything will be easy because all the supplies are in one place! I hope you spend the day or night with someone you love!

flickr + boy projects

OK, so I started a flickr group yesterday. Let me know if that link doesn't work. Not sure I'm doing this right. HA! I can see it's going to take me a while uploading pictures because we've gotten so many from our customers (and we love seeing them!) But it's a start, right?! If anyone's familiar with flickr, can you tell me how you create a photostream. I think that's what it's called... where I can put it on the sidebar of my blog. Any help would be appreciated. :)

On to the fun stuff! Our boy projects by design team member, Laurie! I just love these! Love the airplane with the banner dangling behind, map paper and that cute red heart!

And isn't this car the best? The pictures of her family in the windows are adorable. I'm sure her kids love seeing their pictures too! Laurie's also opened an Etsy shop! Go visit HERE. Love those little button bobby pins.

The car shape and airplane shape are available in our shop HERE.

Thanks for checking in!

our fabulous Guest Designer, Jennifer Stewart!

Wow, am I ever excited to share our guest designer, Jennifer Stewart's creations with you! Our dress shape has been *so* popular that we put a little collection together and call it The Girly Girl Closet. Meet Jennifer and enjoy her tutorial so you can recreate your own wardrobe!

Jennifer Stewart lives in Austin, Texas with her husband, David and their energetic 7-year old Noah. She was raised a small-town girl so the old-fashioned values of family, faith, and home play a huge part in her love of decorating, cooking, entertaining, and preserving memories thru scrapbooking. Jennifer began scrapbooking in 1998 and soon discovered that not only is it a way to capture memories, but also a wonderful means of expressing herself creatively thru color, patterns, and texture. Wanting to use her favorite patterned papers for more than just albums, she slowly began integrating her scrapbook supplies and art into her home décor and loved how it personalized her family’s space.

With a teaching degree from the University of Texas, Jennifer’s decision to teach local scrapbooking classes was an easy one. She later began teaching home décor project classes both locally and on the road. Her work has been published in Memory Makers, Creating Keepsakes, BHG Scrapbooks, Etc. and Scrapbook Trends magazines and Memory Makers Books. She has also worked as a project designer for several scrapbooking companies. Jennifer will be one of the featured artists teaching at Donna Downey’sInspired. Artist Workshop” in North Carolina in April, 2008. She loves inspiring others to create something beautiful with their cherished photos and beautiful craft supplies.
Directions for completing the Girly Girl Closet dresses
by Jennifer Stewart

Paint sides/edges of all 3 dresses with the acrylic paint colors of your choice. (I used celery green, baby pink, and off white.)

Choose the patterned papers you would like to use while the paint is drying. After paint is completely dry, go to step #3.

One at a time, lay the dress face down on the BACK of the patterned paper you will be using. Trace around the edge of the dress with a pencil, staying close to the edge. Cut out with scissors, cutting just inside the line you traced. (that way you won’t have any extra on the edge) Ink edges lightly with light brown ink to define the edge. Repeat for all dresses.

Cover the back of the patterned paper with a glue stick and adhere to front of dress cut out. Rub with a brayer to smooth. If you have any extra edges hanging on the sides, just lightly trim with a craft knife and re-ink the edge. *See note below on 2nd dress before adhering patterned paper.

Add embellishments to dresses. Here are the directions for the embellishments I added:

1st dress – cut small pieces of lace and adhere with red-line tape or glue dots to edge of sleeves. Adhere small strip of thin green velvet ribbon, covering top edge of lace. (cut ribbon edges in a diagonal, against edge of the sleeve). Add mini buttons with glue dots going down the front of the dress.

2nd dress – Adhere a piece of lace to bottom of dress with red-line tape or glue dots. Make sure lace hangs off of the bottom of the dress. Adhere patterned paper as directed in step #3, placing over the top of the lace. Place a line of red-line tape at waist line and cover with silver glitter. (I used
German glass glitter, but any glitter will work) Apply a thin line of Diamond Glaze or Glossy Accents liquid glue around collar of the dress and sprinkle with glitter.

3rd dress – Adhere (with glue dots) rhinestones inside each scallop at the bottom of the dress as well as three in a vertical line at top of dress. Tie wide pink ribbon in a bow at the front of the dress and insert a small silk pink rose inside the knot of the bow.
Aren't they so much fun and of course girly!! :) Visit Jennifer's blog for fun stories, great links and inspiring ideas! Oh, and let's not forget her love of all things 80's!
You can find the Girly Girl Closet right HERE!! And be sure to keep checking in because we'll be posting all the design team projects the rest of this week and next!

a little update

Boy, what a week and a half it's been! I've been a little quiet here on the blogfront because I was in the hospital for a week. I'm home now and doing ok, babies are just fine but it was a scary few days for us. I awoke one night to excessive bleeding and was rushed to emergency. If it hadn't stopped (luckily it did) they would have delivered the babies. It was so scary to not know what was going on and when they put the fetal heart monitors on it felt like an eternity for them to tell us they could hear two heartbeats. The babies have been very active and have good, strong heartbeats and seem to be doing just fine in there. It was so surreal that I almost can't believe it happened. I have placenta previa which is more common with multiples. I'm now on bedrest and just really taking it easy. I'm 27 weeks along and they've told me that 28 weeks is our next big milestone and then 32 weeks so I'm just hoping they stay put for at least that long.

We were a little delayed on some of our orders because we stopped production for the week. All orders are now caught up but I'm so sorry for the delay.

On an exciting note.. I'll be announcing our NEW design team tomorrow! Once again, we had some pretty amazing people submit their creations and it was a VERY difficult decision. Thank you all for checking in and visiting us here.
