acorns revisited

Hello and Happy Friday!

I just had to share these photos I received recently. I can't believe how popular our acorn shape has been. People are still ordering it! I have to say I love it too. And from these two designs, you can see just how different the look can be and each equally fabulous!

The first one with the sweet buttons across was designed by Dawn Hopkins. I don't think she has a blog (but she needs one.) :) I love the swirly paper she used and it looks like she embossed the top paper but I can't quite tell from the photo. And I love the extra touch of putting thread or ribbon through the buttons. I think it gives it that finishing touch. I love it!
[EDIT: Dawn DOES have a blog. :) Go visit. She also told me for the top paper she used her Fiskars embossing plate to add the swirls. She then lightly sanded to make the embossing stand out.] I don't have one of these Fiskars embossing plates... gotta go check out a new tool! Love Fiskars products!

And this glittery goodness was designed by Mariah. Mariah is a new customer of ours and is quite a talent. She designs wedding invitations, stationery, logos.. a bit of everything on her website. I love these sweet cupcake cards (with a strawberry on top!) Too cute. Did you see the row of bling she added to her acorn? Don't you love it?

joy to the world

We've had some wonderful opportunities in this little business of ours. You know... you get orders, you package them up with care and hope people love it and then you wonder what they create. I know I say it often, but I love seeing what people do with our products. Luckily the blogging world lets us see quite a few, which is so much fun. Well, it's also fun to receive e-mails out of the blue telling us about something a little different and very exciting they've done or plan to do with them! Like this JOY set we made for Jann. She e-mailed me earlier in the week with this photo of her vintage style letters (LOVE them!) And told me she's planning on using our Tuscany JOY letters and trumpet angel for a local TV show in her area! How cool is that?! It will be aired on PBS and about four cable networks throughout IN, KY and TN on a tv show called 'What You Make It'. You should check out the website.. it's still fairly new but there's already project kits listed and a project gallery full of ideas, like these paper trees that I love. She says they plan on posting our letters and shape on the website after they've aired so I'll be sure to keep you all updated! Thanks Jann! We look forward to seeing what you have planned in the future!

this made me laugh!

Found this last night on Rare Bird Finds.. made me laugh out loud! I KNOW there's days when I could use some of these! Static clings to leave your friendly, little message can be found HERE.

ornament sneak peek

Well, my ornaments are on their way in all their glittery goodness. This was so much fun to do! Thanks to each of you for participating too. I'll check in on your blogs and be sure to post links and pictures so you all can see all the beautiful creations! Mine are each slightly different but the same design. Each has a vintage button and LOTS of glitter!

thank yous

OK, so I've been dying to post these adorable gifties I've received but didn't want to until we made our announcement about the babies. I tell ya - online friends are SO generous of themselves. Just look at these! The first little bib and booties set were made by my friend Stacy. She found out we were pregnant before we knew it was twins! I just love the soft fabric. I am certainly NOT going to want them to eat with that sweet bib on! :) She has some wonderful creations in her Etsy shop... tutus and dragon tails are her specialty! Great holiday gifts.

And this adorably packaged set of onesies were handstamped and decorated by my friend Kim. She came to visit me at our Early Bird Open House. So much fun meeting her for the first time! The packaging alone on this is the cutest and then inside are four sweet onesies, two of each design. I have to say the sweet pea set is my favorite! Look at the details... thank you both for your generosity! Can't wait to get the nursery set up to display the cuteness! :)

Kids Kits

So, were any of you up at the crack of dawn to go shopping?? My sister in law said she was getting up at 4am! I was sound asleep in my warm bed at that time. :) I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving. We sure did!

I guess we're now in the holiday shopping mode! One of our most popular items this year have been our DIY Kits for Kids. Both shows we did this year they were a huge hit! I've done several with nieces and nephews and they love it! And.. they feel really proud of the finished product when it's done. We've listed several in our shop suitable for boys and girls. Each is a little different and have papers, sequins, glitter, stickers, embellishments and even Swedish fish for a snack! My favorite. :) Take a peek. Several other kits available HERE.

so thankful.

With Thanksgiving this week we all seem to reflect on what we are most thankful for. What a difference a year makes I tell ya! Last year at this time my father was diagnosed with cancer and we didn't know what type of cancer, if he'd need chemo, operation, radiation. It was pretty much a nightmare as you can imagine. I am SO happy to say he is completely cancer free, finally getting his appetite back and even golfing a few times a week! So thankful for him and good health.

I'm also completely blessed and thankful to share that we are pregnant! This was a long and sometimes very lonely road of nearly 7 years trying to get pregnant and we finally are!! And if you couldn't quite tell from the ultrasound that's two little ones in there. hee hee. Yup - we are expecting twins! Doubly blessed - or double the trouble, whichever way you look at it! I was just talking with my dad today (who has a twin brother) and he said... well, two boys would be nice because what one doesn't think of, the other one will! HA! I've heard some stories about those two and they were a handful!! :) I'm excited for the holidays and to work on a nursery. I have too many ideas in my head and just need to settle on one! But just imagine the fun of decorating with our letters and shapes. I love it!! I'll be sure and share along the way. What are you thankful for this year?

goody giveaway

Just wanted to pass along this link to my friend Michelle's blog. She is such a talent and makes whimsical creations. You'll love it! :) One of my favorite things she makes are her clocks.. like this one. She also posts a lot about her travels to China which I find so fascinating to read about. She's just a fun and talented artist AND she's giving away some cool stuff! HA! Go VISIT!

welcome and thank you

We were truly blown away by the amount of design team applicants we received. And the talent - WOW - really amazing stuff out there. It was especially nice making new connections with people and getting to know you just a bit from your work. What I love about blogging and scrapbooking is how personal it is and the connections we can make just by this little blogging community! It was probably one of the most difficult business decisions having to chose just a few of you for the team since you are all so incredibly talented - I just had to say that again because really, you ALL rock! :)

With that being said, we are absolutely *thrilled* to introduce you to our design team! They each have such a unique style and I know they'll create some fabulous things with our shapes and letters! Just wait til you see our first projects. :) Some fun new things are coming next month. Stay tuned for sure. So WELCOME...

makeover

Found this over on Becky Higgins blog that CK magazine is getting a new look. It looks much cleaner. I wonder what the inside will be like... could be good but could be a disaster. I actually haven't subscribed to this magazine in about a year. But I'm looking for a new subscription. What do you guys think? What's your favorite scrapping/paper crafting magazine? Gimme the scoop! :)

Joyeux Noel

Can I just tell you how much I love these?! My new friend Kory designed them and I love them! Love the colors, love the long bits of ribbon and I love how she personalized it with the cute picture of she and her hubby. :) She also used some of our vintage glitter to add a "snowy" effect. Love them! These letters are the 'with a twist' lettering style and can be found in the shop HERE. Here's a couple close-ups. Enjoy!!

crafty Saturday

OK Carrie (and Laurie)... this one's for you! I spent Saturday crafting with friends. It was such an inspiring day.. my friend Adele has a gorgeous studio on the lake and every imaginable tool or supply handy! We talked, we ate this incredible chocolate that one of the ladies husband made (best chocolate I've ever tasted - EVER!) And we actually got things done! I worked on a new JOY letter set that we'll be offering as a kit and I also worked on my ornament swap. I didn't finish them but it's a good start. That's pretty good for me since I usually just end up talking and nothing much gets accomplished. And I need a new camera so the only photos that really came out are closeup shots. But isn't it inspiring?... Oh, and the other cool thing is that Adele wants to do a workshop next summer using our letters!! Very exciting. :)

This is the artwork of Gretchen Gudefin. Just look at the detail in her paintings! She goes on nature walks and brings home bits of nature to paint. It's just beautiful!

peppermint peek

OK, so the Peppermint Swap is full! I had someone e-mail me last night wanting to join. Soooo.. I told them if we got 4 more people to join by tomorrow I'd open another group. But don't worry if you missed out on this one. I know it's a busy time with the holidays coming up. I have a feeling we'll be doing more of these in the future!

So here's my little Peppermint sneak peek! :) I'm so excited to work with that crackle paint by Tim Holtz. I haven't used it before but the effects are very cool and it seems really easy. I'm getting together with friends I haven't seen in quite a while for a crafty day on Saturday so I plan on working on my ornaments then. Can't wait! I'll post pictures of the day too because she has a beautiful studio space! I'll send swap addresses hopefully tonight.

We're also finalizing everything for our design team this weekend as the deadline is Saturday. We are seriously blown away by all of the incredible talent we've seen. I can't wait to see what you create with our products! Happy Thursday to you!

Halloween revisited

I know we're moving backwards here but I just wanted to share some cool pictures that got sent to me last night. One of our big projects for the month of October was being involved with an event for Boston's Halloween Town. The event is in its third year and this year they had over 15,000 people attend in two days! We supplied all the letters and some custom shapes for the sets. Steven also built this really cool racetrack for the Monster Speedway. It was safe trick or treating and TONS of activities for the kids. A great time!

We also cut and engraved tombstones for all the corporate sponsors for the event. They loved them! :)
