makeover

Found this over on Becky Higgins blog that CK magazine is getting a new look. It looks much cleaner. I wonder what the inside will be like... could be good but could be a disaster. I actually haven't subscribed to this magazine in about a year. But I'm looking for a new subscription. What do you guys think? What's your favorite scrapping/paper crafting magazine? Gimme the scoop! :)

Hmmm....I am undecided. It looks very nice and clean I think, but to me, when I first glance at the cover, I don't think "SCRAPBOOK MAG." I think fashion or something similar. It does look very nice though. I remember when Memory Makers overhauled their mag...I didn't like it nearly as much as I had before.

My favorite is Scrapbooks ETC. I currently get Paper Crafts as well, but everything is starting to look the same. The same projects, just a different paper. Even though I love it, I am letting my sub expire. THere are only so many mags I need with Crystal Light containers made over.

Interesting look. I kind of like seeing an actual layout or project on the cover though.

I subscribe to a bunch - CK, MM, Scrapbooks etc, Paper Crafts - Scrapbooks etc is my current fave.

I don't have a favorite anymore... I get MM but that is b/c it was free. LOL

I like the paper crafts, but has mentioned above it is starting to look the same.

My first thought was, "Oh, that's so 70's!" And then I thought, "What magazing is this?" It almost doesn't look like a crafting magazine...but more like a clothing catalog or something. I like Paper Crafts and Cards and Decorative Painter...but I usually just pick these up at the store...I don't subscribe.

We will have to wait and see with this one I guess...

I heard the magazine itslef has been sold and that is a bad omen as far as I can see from previous magazines. Rubber Stamper is the newest downgrade and I demanded my money back. I only have one issue left on CK and probably wont renew as the prices on line are cheaper than the guarenteed lowest price slip they keep sending me-a 10 dollar dif. I think the internet has taken a big bite from these magazines which are now almost half ads and no content.

I agree, I like the cover, but it doesn't look like a scrapbook magazine. It almost reminds of the Martha Stewart mag, "Blue Prints". I love my Paper Crafts, Scrapbooks etc and Memory Makers magazines, although I am receiving CK as a gift.

It's going to be interesting to watch what happens here. I just renewed, for next year (back in Sept.) and I hope it's a step up from what they have been putting out lately.
I do think they are looking to market to a wider audience, to reel in a non-scrappy person with this type of cover. It's a gorgeous cover with fresh colors, who wouldn't want to pick this up and check it out?
My fav. magazine is SBEtc. which I sub to as well.

I don't get any scrapping magazines, just Paper Crafts which I do enjoy when I have time. I also like looing at Cards (from Scrapbook Trends). They also have Paper Trends, Scrapbook Trends & Bead Trends. Pretty pricey but beautiful pics and hardly any ads!

Wow! What a different look! I agree with the other girls that I never would have thought it was a scrapbook mag.

I guess I'll have to wait and see how I like it.

I like Paper Crafts and Cards. I want to see examples I can adapt to my projects. All CK layouts have the same look. I don't think I'll subscribe after mine ends in March. I get most of my inspiration from the ads.

The only upside I can come up with for the cover is that it totally makes me want to use that color combination now, lol! But I don't think anything about the cover says "scrapbooking" and I think that's a mistake.

I like the new look although it's so Martha Stewart. You must subscribe to Scrapbook Dimensions Magazine~! :)

I'm a fan of scrapbook trends and Cards. Although, I won't bring myself to subscribe, because i don't do enough actual scrapbooking. I've ditched the subscriptions altogether. I usually go for the special interest publications (Like homegrown hospitality, Room to Room, etc) that arent' included in subscriptions anyways. I'm lucky enough to have a Provo Craft Outlet nearby (one of only two, i think) and be close to so many warehouses that I can hit their sales and pick up books for at least 50% off cover, usually more.

WOW! I do like the new cover, but it definitely doesn't seem like a scrapbook magazine cover to me. It totally reminds me of a Blue Prints magazine or something - some kind of fashion or interior design mag.

I am a total magazine junkie - I get CK, SS, Scrapbooks Etc, MM, Paper Crafts, Scrapbook Trends, Cards, and Popular Photography. Out of all of them I would have to say I LOVE Scrapbooks, Etc. the most. Scrapbook Trends and Cards are up there too but they are soooo expensive! (no ads though, which rocks!) I'd say you should try out Scrapbooks, Etc! :-)

I subscribe to Simple Scrapbooks, Scrapbooks Etc, and Creating Keepsakes. I agree with most of the other ladies, Scrapbooks Etc (a Better Homes and Gardens publication) is my fav.

However, I just got this in the mail Saturday and I LOVED it! I have considered cancelling CK because out of all my scrapbook mags, it is my least favorite. But i didn't b/c it is the only mag that is monthly! The entire magazine got a redesign and I really really liked it.
