happy day after!

Did you all enjoy your Christmas? We sure did! Today I'm sooo tired and can hardly believe another Christmas has passed. Next year it will be all about the little ones for us. I can hardly wait!! We got some adorable clothes and gifts for the twins already. I think that's just the sweetest - people so excited for the babies that they want to give them gifts already. :) My mom lives on a lake and she gave us the cutest little onesie with a sailboat on it. I just love it!

Be sure to check in maybe this weekend.. we're going to start listing several discounted letters and shapes. Some will be seconds.. most just have minor issues with keyholes and we'll be selling these at a discounted price. Others are items we've cut to get them posted on our site but they've been sitting in storage for a bit so we want to clear out!! We're still working out all the details but I think I'll be setting up a separate blog and just have you pay via Paypal and not go through Etsy. But I'll let you know. I'll post on the site here and also send out a notice to our mailing list.

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and we wish you all the best for 2008!

more inspiration...

Isn't this little Heidi Grace tree the sweetest? Created by my new friend Dawn Hopkins, who's happens to be a Fiskateer. Have you heard of them?? Well, it's a very creative bunch of ladies at Fiskars who also have online episodes of projects called Fiskars TV. Dawn's tree is featured among other projects on 12/14/07 Episode 62, called Holiday Show n' Tell with the Fiskateers. You can check it all out HERE.

Thanks Dawn for the inspiration!

Guest Designer, the fabulous Amy Powers

We are SO thrilled to introduce our first guest designer, the fabulous Miss Amy Powers of Inspire Company. I've been a fan of her work for quite some time (you will be too if you haven't visited her blog or website yet!) She's incredibly talented and just the sweetest, nicest person!

Amy Powers is the owner of a little online shop called Inspire Company. She lives a sweet and quiet life, making things and wrapping things and sending them off with lots of love to her customers all over the world. She shares her adventures and joie de vivre on her popular blog ( .

Amy's even given us a tutorial on how to decorate the little village in her adorable style! Just look at these!

Base paint the entire little house the color you'd like for the house to be. Once the paint is dry, paint the details like the roofline, chimney, doors, windows. If you're shaky, use tape to mask off areas where you don't want the paint. Add polka dots and stripes and more details when that coat dries. Alternatively, you could cut out bits of paper for details like the shutters, doors, and windows and glue them into place.

For the piece with an open doorway and windows, glue paper bits to the back of the piece.

Add accents like tiny Christmas balls, millinery flowers, beads, pom-poms using hot glue. Have fun with this part and look at everyday things with fresh eyes. Let yourself play!

Coat the entire front of the piece with craft glue using a broad paint brush. Put glue over the bits and bobs too.

With a piece of paper underneath collect the run-off, pour a generous amount of clear glitter over the entire piece. Shake off the excess.

Design Team :: Day 6

Prepare to be INSPIRED! Introducing Julie Ann Shahin...

You need to know my favorite color is yellow, my scrap room is yellow - and so I'm a happy scrapbooker. My favorite part of scrapbooking is combining the written word with captured snapshots of everyday life and artistic expressions. Perhaps I'm best known for hybrid scrapbooking: which is combining digital with the best of traditional. I've been hybrid scrapbooking for about 1.5 years, and traditional scrapbooking for 3.5 years.

I actually have a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from Michigan State University so being part of the Say It With Letters Design Team where I get to play with awesome home decor items is quite a thrill. My home isn't quite the way I ideally want it decorated, so this is quite the treat for me to get to play with Deb's products.

When I'm not scrapping, I'm spending time with my husband and our extended family or walking on the beach if the weather allows. Here in Western NY that is only about 6 or 7 months out of the year. You can see more of my work in Scrapbook Dimensions Magazine where I hold the title of Creative Editor.

Our new 'Peace' set can be found in our SHOP. Check in tomorrow to see our Guest Designer, the fabulous Amy Powers of Inspire Company. We'll also be having another GIVEAWAY this week so come check it all out!!

Design Team :: Day 5 + Online Class

Love this Christmas Village! Prepare to be INSPIRED!!

Hi! My name is Chrys Rose and I am beyond thrilled to be part of the Say It With Letters! design team! I am a SAHM with two wonderful boys who keep me running around in circles. I live in sunny California with my husband, boys and 3 annoying cats (although I love them).

I have been scrapbooking/paper crafting for over 14 years. I have been involved in some way with the paper crafting industry for the last 3 years.

I have been honored to have served on several design teams throughout the last few years and have also had the pleasure to see my creations published in nationwide magazines and idea books. I like making layouts, love making cards and mini books, but my biggest passion is altering! Give me a piece of wood, paper mache, even furniture and I will create it into a piece of artwork.

ONLINE CLASS featuring our HAPPY HOME shape!!

Isn't Chrys a talent? She also teaches online at the fabulous website Heart in Hand. I've been a follower of this site for quite some time. They've got some great classes and so many inspiring ideas. I'm *thrilled* to say that Chrys is teaching an online class with our happy home shape. The last house featured (with the adorable snowman) is what she'll be teaching - don't you love it?! For more information, please visit the Heart in Hand website HERE. Oh, and did I say the price is only $3 bucks!

Design Team :: Day 4

So Pottery Barn!! :) Prepare to be INSPIRED!

Hi! My name is Danielle Flanders. I'm so honored to be asked to join the SIWL team!

My husband and I reside in Upstate N.Y. with our 2 girls, Taylor, age 8 and Kati, age 2. I fell in love with scrapbooking when Taylor was born 8 years ago. I started a baby book for her, and it quickly grew into something more for me! Now crafting definitely a passion of mine, a creative outlet, and I love to try new techniques and sneak in time to make things every chance I get. My recent obsession is card making and altering things!

In the last year I have been fortunate enough to have my work published in magazines such as Cards, Paper Crafts, Memory Makers, Paper Trends, Scrapbook Trends, and Scrapbook Dimensions. I am so excited to have this opportunity to share my work with you!

Danielle has posted more about her letters HERE. Visit her blog for many other inspiring ideas! Our NEW 'Peace' letters can be found HERE.

Design Team :: Day 3

Prepare to be INSPIRED!

Hi! My name is Laurie Cass-Griggs and I am so excited to be a part of the Say It With Letters Design Team! I went to school for commercial art and have worked in the graphic art / advertising field for years. Currently, I am a stay-at-home mom to my two wonderful kids. I like to create all kinds of things - it's an outlet for me and something I just have to do every day!

I started scrapbooking seriously about five years ago and I am still obsessed by it. I love all the papers, buttons, stamps and ribbons and am a true shopaholic. I also have a few friends who feel the same way and we get together once a month to create and laugh together. I really don't know what I would do without this outlet.

In my spare time I like to read and decorate, "play house," (Ha ha) and mostly just be with my family and friends. I love to meet other people who love scrapping / altering as much as I do!

Our Village Trio can be found HERE. Laurie has other inspiring projects on her blog. Go visit!

Design Team :: Day 2

Prepare to be INSPIRED!

Hi! My name is Kory Dordea! I am 26 years old and I reside down south in beautiful Marietta, Georgia with my ultra supportive husband of two years, Ed. We have a purebred mutt named Tana and a beautiful blue-eyed kitty named Tucker. I have a degree in Elementary Education and taught the third grade in Las Vegas for two years before we decided to pack up and move to the Atlanta area. Since our move, I have become a stay-at-home-wife, which I LOVE because now I have lots of time to focus on scrapbooking. I hope to fulfill my dream of becoming a mommy very soon!

Believe it or not, I have been scrapbooking for 12 years! I first became interested in scrapbooking during my freshman year of highschool when I attended a Creative Memories party. Lucky for me, my mom has always been crafty, so she bought me some basic supplies and fueled the fire. Although they sometimes make me cringe, I enjoy looking back at my older projects, not only to see how I have grown and changed, but also to see how the scrapbooking and paper arts industry has evolved. Where scrapbooking and paper crafts used to be a part-time hobby to me, they are now an absolute obsession. Creating art is my passion and a creative outlet that allows me to preserve my family's memories for generations to come!

I am so excited and honored to be a part of the Say it With Letters design team and I hope to be able to provide a little bit of inspiration to others. Besides being on the design team here at SIWL, I also do design team work for Simply Obsessed, Moments to Remember, AC Bailey Designs, and Serendipity Kits. And although I just started submitting my work for publication back in July, I've already been published over 40 times, including a fabulous altered art project featuring SIWL wooden letters that will debut in the April 2008 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine! I guess you could say that I've been pretty lucky so far! :-)

This BRAND NEW lettering style for us can be found HERE. Kory has posted more about her letters HERE. Visit her blog for tons of inspiration!

Design Team :: Day 1

Prepare to be INSPIRED! All week we'll be introducing our NEW and fabulous design team! They're all so talented and have created some really amazing projects with our products. They really did even more than I could have hoped! Next week we'll be sharing our guest designer's project too. :) Stay tuned!

Hi! My name is Robyn Weatherspoon and I am completely in love with the art of scrapbooking! I am a very friendly and passionate person who is often told that I'm quite humorous! I am the creative and outgoing mother of three; which is a job within itself! I'm an elementary teacher by day, and a scrapbooker by night!
I was introduced to the scrapbooking world by a co-worker about 4 years ago. I began as a cardmaker and stamper, but quickly incorporated scrapbooking layouts also. I truly enjoy the creative process of scrapbooking and find that I must scrap daily in order to remain centered and in control of my busy life. For me it is extremely therapeutic! When creating projects, I love to keep the focus of the project on my photos and compliment them with bright colors and detailed embellishments and stitching. I usually keep it simple, yet always adding a little twist to the mix!
In addition to scrapbooking, I love spending my leisure time with my family, reading, cooking, singing and laughing.

Go visit Robyn's blog for more inspiring ideas. She posted her Bless our Home Trio on her blog HERE. The Village Trio can be found in our shop HERE.
